Case law

What case law are, and why Ask The Beagle cites them.

Our explanation

Case law is the body of court judgments deciding what legislation means in real disputes. A citation like “[2020] UKSC 1” identifies a single judgment (here, the UK Supreme Court, 2020). Ask The Beagle does not currently include case law in its answers, while a licensing question over computational use of the judgment archive is resolved: a real gap, noted here rather than papered over.
